Minsk has a variety of beautiful attractions to offer to its visitors. The Independence Square is one of the largest public squares in all of Europe, and is perfect for an evening walk. In addition the Independence Avenue acts as the main artery of the city, with cafes, restaurants, and retail stores, as well as clubs and music events. Minsk is also known for its parks and gardens, which can be viewed from above through the observation wheel in the Gorky Central Children’s Park.
Belovezhskaya Pushcha National Park
Belovezhskaya Pushcha National Park is a national park within parts of the Brest Region and Grodno Region in Belarus and the Polish border. Since 1992 it is a preserved part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Białowieża Forest. The park is the last primeval forest fragment of the European woodlands.
The park is famous for its landscapes and flora and fauna, the most notable of which is the European Bison. Additionally, here is one of the few places in the world where these majestic animals can be viewed in their natural habitat. As well as bison, there are also semi-wild horses known as konik, wild boars, and Eurasian elks found in the park.
Mir Castle
The Mir Castle is a historic fortified castle and a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Belarus, in the town of Mir.
This extraordinary architectural achievement is built in the Baroque, Gothic, and Renaissance styles and is heavily surrounded by fortification walls (walls protecting against attack). Visitors to the castle can enjoy a walk in the beautiful Italian-style flower gardens, and the extensive artificial lake on the property. The castle offers a spectacular glance at some of the best architecture in Belarus, and although it was badly damaged by cannon fire in the past, it has now been loyally restored to its former glory.
