best places to visit in the central african republic
Bangui
Bangui is the capital and largest city of the Central African Republic and is situated on the banks of the Ubangi River.
As with many African cities, the nightlife and markets here are worth visiting. In addition, the presidential palace is a key attraction. The setting of the city within the rapids of the Ubangi River and the rolling hills nearby make it a charming natural gem. The so-called Big Mosque is a popular place to visit and there are a number of museums that document both the colonization of the country as well as the culture of its indigenous people
Manovo-Gounda St. Floris National Park
Manovo-Gounda St. Floris National Park is a national park and UNESCO World Heritage Site located on the border between the Central African Republic and Chad.
It was inscribed to the list of World Heritage Sites in 1988 because of the diversity of life present within it. Notable species include black rhinoceroses, elephants, Sudan cheetahs, leopards, red-fronted gazelles, buffalos, giraffes, lions, and a wide range of waterfowl species. The site is under threat due to its rare wildlife dying and animal species being wiped out. The western black rhinoceros that was indigenous to the Central African Republic has gone extinct in 2011. There are many guided safaris available throughout the year which take place with local and knowledgeable guides.
