Why Travel Insurance is Essential for Guyana?
Guyana’s remote locations and unpredictable conditions make travel insurance a must-have. Here’s why:
- Limited medical facilities – Outside of major cities, healthcare access is restricted. Travel insurance covers medical treatments and evacuations.
- Weather-related flight delays – Sudden storms or airline disruptions can leave you stranded, but trip interruption coverage helps with extra costs.
- High-risk activities – If you’re exploring Kaieteur Falls, the Rupununi Savannah, or Iwokrama Rainforest, insurance ensures coverage for injuries and emergencies.
- Lost or stolen baggage – Reimbursement for lost luggage, passports, or stolen valuables.
- Unexpected expenses – Emergency accommodations, food, or transportation costs are covered if your trip is disrupted.
With So Easy Travel Insurance, you can enjoy Guyana’s natural beauty without worrying about the unexpected.

best places to visit in guyana
Georgetown
Georgetown is the capital and largest city of Guyana. It is situated in the Demerara-Mahaica, on the Atlantic Ocean coast, at the mouth of the Demerara River. It is nicknamed the “Garden City of the Caribbean” and is the retail, administrative, and financial services center of the country.
Miners, plantation builders, architects, statesmen, and more, all gathered in this corner of the Demerara-Mahaica region to play their part as the city went from Dutch to French to British rule, inspiring the town with the likes of Stabroek Market and whitewashed St George’s Cathedral. The Parliament Building is also worth a stop-off, while the national museum is a great place to get acquainted with local history.
New Amsterdam
New Amsterdam is the regional capital of East Berbice-Corentyne, Guyana, and one of the country’s largest towns.
Since its foundation in the middle of the 18th century, New Amsterdam has moved from Dutch masters, who held control over the lowland plantations from the fort of Fort Nassau up the valley, to the British, who supplied it with ground-breaking sanitation laws and attracted the likes of Cesar Castellani (perhaps the most famous architect to grace Guyana with his work). As testimony to Castellani’s influence, the masterful front of the New Amsterdam Public Hospital still decorates the streets.
Kaieteur Falls
Kaieteur Falls in Guyana is one of the world’s most powerful waterfalls. Located in Kaieteur National Park, deep within the Guyana Amazon rainforest, it is the largest of all the Guyana waterfalls (of which there are many!). Situated on the Potaro River, Kaieteur Falls lies in the country’s western region which forms part of the Guiana Shield and is surrounded by pristine wilderness and diverse wildlife. Five times the height of Niagara Falls with incredible views, this natural wonder should not be missed!
Kaieteur Falls’ remote location has kept it largely untouched by commercialism – a blessing for nature lovers – but it also means it is logistically challenging to get to. Most people take a guided tour by plane from Georgetown or a multi-day trek for an immersive jungle experience.
