best places to visit in niger
Zinder
Zinder, also locally called Damagaram, is located more than 800 km from the capital Niamey and is the second-largest city in Niger.
The city is a maze of tight-knit lanes and hidden streets which make navigating an interesting adventure. Meanwhile, the Sultan’s Palace rises over the town displaying its great adobe architecture. The bustling bazaar, which stretches as far as the eye can see makes it easy to believe that Zinder was once one of the busiest camel caravan stops on the trans-Saharan route. The city’s rich history of French rule, tribal culture, and trading; its mercantile energy, and its sheer, raw African beauty, make it a must-see.
W National Park
The W National Park, or W Regional Park, is a major national park in West Africa around the W-shape-bended Niger River. The park includes land areas from Niger, Benin, and Burkina Faso, and is governed by all three governments.
W National Park has also attained the greatly desired UNESCO World Heritage Site tag, which it was awarded on account of its unique display of transition habitats between the savannah and the West African woods. You should also make sure to have your camera ready for a medley of baboons and African buffalo, giraffes, leopards, lions, and more.
