Pyongyang
Pyongyang is the capital and largest city of North Korea, and is known as the “Capital of the Revolution”. Also, Pyongyang is located on the Taedong River about 109 km upstream from its delta on the Yellow Sea.
Pyongyang is one of the oldest cities in North Korea. One of Pyongyang’s most iconic monuments, the Arch of Triumph is larger than its Parisian predecessor at 60 meters in height and 50 meters in width and was built to commemorate Kim Il Sung’s role in the Korean resistance to Japanese colonialism from 1925 to 1945. The Central Botanical Gardens, as well as the Central Zoo, are definitely worth a visit, exhibiting some of the nation’s beautiful nature.
Chilbosan
Chilbosan is a mountain in the North Hamgyong province in North Korea.
The name translates to ‘seven treasures’, stemming from the legend that Chilbosan has seven treasures buried in it. The mountain is best known for the breathtaking landscape created when it is covered in snow. Chilbosan mountain is commonly divided into Inner Chilbo, Outer Chilbo, and Sea Chilbo, and much of it is covered in mixed broadleaf and coniferous forest. Additionally, it has been identified as an Important Bird Area (IBA) because it is home to Oriental storks and endangered Baer’s pochards. Lastly, apart from nature, one of the main attractions here is the Kaesim Temple, dating from the 9th century.
