Rock Islands
The Rock Islands of Palau are a collection of several hundred small limestone and coral uprises (some reaching 207 meters) in the Southern Lagoon of Palau between Koror and Peleliu. There are between 250 and 300 islands in the group, amounting to an area of almost 50 km2.
This was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2012, and the islands are a landscape lover’s dream. The mixture of a dizzying array of beautiful aquamarine waters, vibrant colorful wildlife, stunning white-sand beaches, and spectacular snorkeling and scuba diving sites, make the Rock Islands a must-see for nature lovers.
Ngardmau waterfall
Ngardmau is one of Palau’s sixteen states and is located on the west side of Babeldaob, the largest island of Palau. The long drainage basins of the Biongradid and Irur Rivers run through Ngardmau, and near the upper reaches of the Diongradid is a large waterfall.
The Ngardmau waterfall is the tallest fall in Micronesia and can be reached via a rough 30-minute jungle hike or monorail. The curtain of water plunges from an overhang into an inviting pool beneath, creating a breathtaking landscape and a great opportunity for a max-pressure shower.
