Oeno Island
Oeno Island is a coral atoll in the South Pacific Ocean, part of the Pitcairn Islands’ overseas territory. The diameter of Oeno is about 5 km, inside the island, there is a lagoon, and on the edges, there are two large and three small islands.
Oeno is called the “father of shipwrecks” since, for a long time, many ships have crashed on its shores. The island is an important ornithological area, home to one of the world’s largest colonies of petrels. This atoll serves as a place of solitude for a few islanders. The main tourist attractions are the beaches that do not exist in Pitcairn.
Adamstown
Adamstown is the only settlement on Pitcairn Island and effectively the capital of the Pitcairn Islands.
It’s a tiny village with a population that hovers around 50 people, making it one of the smallest capitals in the world. Adamstown offers a quaint charm with its few buildings, including the Seventh-day Adventist Church, the island’s school, and the Pitcairn Island Museum, which holds many artifacts of the Bounty and the island’s history. Visitors can experience the warm hospitality of the local community and learn about the unique way of life on the island.
