best places to visit in Saint Pierre and Miquelon
Saint Pierre Island
Saint Pierre Island is one of the three main islands of Saint Pierre and Miquelon and contains the town of Saint-Pierre, which lies on the island’s east coast.
Although small in size Saint Pierre is the most populous of the three main islands of Saint Pierre and Miquelon. With about 5,500 residents, as well as a few hotels, restaurants, tours, and activities, there are a few interesting things to do and see here. The island can easily be explored by foot and the two museums in St. Pierre (L’Arche Museum and Archives, and Musee Heritage), offer a glance at the island’s history.
Miquelon
Miquelon, also known as Grande Miquelon, is one of the islands of the archipelago of Saint Pierre and Miquelon, in the Atlantic Ocean.
Although much bigger in size compared to St. Pierre, Miquelon has only about 600 inhabitants. While there is a small town to explore, this island is best visited for its natural areas. The sand bar that connects Miquelon to Langlade looks particularly impressive, whereas La Maison de la Nature et de l’Environnement houses a 200-square-meter exhibit space that will immerse you in the archipelago’s natural assets. Lastly, eco-walks are arranged by the Nature Interpretation Centre, offering great ways to experience the nature on the island.
