best places to visit in the seychelles
Anse Intendance
Mahé is the largest island of Seychelles, with an area of 157.3 km², lying in the Somali Sea part of the Indian Ocean.
One of Mahé’s best beaches, Anse Intendance, is a small and secluded crescent of sand on the island’s south coast. The beach has become a favorite surfing spot thanks to its frequent big swells and wild waves. The lack of a protective reef makes swimming a little rough when trade winds blow from the southeast, but sunbathers, beachcombers, and photographers will enjoy this picturesque, palm-framed strand at any time of the year.
Morne Seychellois National Park
The Morne Seychellois National Park is the largest national park in Seychelles, covering an area of 30 km².
The park is set up around the highest point of the Seychelles, the Morne Seychellois which reaches a height of 905 meters and overlooks the capital of Victoria. Wildlife includes several notable species of birds, such as the Seychelles scops-owl, bulbul, and sunbird, and the lush vegetation varies from several species of endemic palms to pandanus, pitcher plants, and ferns. You’ll find some of the best hikes on the island here.
Aldabra Island
Aldabra Island is the largest raised coral atoll in the world and is known to have a volcanic origin.
The island houses endemic species of lily, the rarest mangrove trees, and orchids that are only found in this area and nowhere else on the planet and it is considered as one of the Seychelles tourist places. It also has an unusual mixture of herbs and grasses called “tortoise turf” that enables the giant tortoises to live here. You can also spot here the white-throated Aldabra rail that is the only flightless bird found in the Indian Ocean.
