Bujumbura

Bujumbura is the largest city and main port of Burundi. It ships most of the country’s chief export, coffee, as well as cotton and tin ore.

The city is commonly known as Buji and has retained some characteristics from its period as a French colony, such as excellent food, drinks, and nightlife. French cuisine can be found at various restaurants in the city. Ruvubu National Park

Ruvubu National Park is a national park in Burundi covering 508 km² and was established in 1980. The park touches neighbouring Tanzania to the south and gets its name from the Ruvubu River which runs through the length of the park.

It is home to some of the most majestic and impressive wildlife in the country including hippos, buffalos, and crocodiles. The park is also known for its variety of rare plants and flowers as well as the birdlife that migrates to the region throughout the year. Preservation of the park is one of the country’s top concerns, so much so that humans have been evacuated from the area. However, the park is well equipped for camping and is easily accessible by road.
