best places to visit in Ecuador
The Galápagos Islands
The Galápagos Islands are islands located together at the equator on the Galápagos Ridge in the open sea about 1000 km from the west coast of South America and belong politically to Ecuador.
The Islands are widely associated with Charles Darwin’s research on evolutionary biology and have intrigued and inspired visitors from around the globe. Named for the giant tortoises on the islands, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is home to a unique ecosystem that largely evolved without outside influences. The Galápagos Islands remain one of the most active volcanic regions in the world, and the formation of the islands is still in progress.
Quito

Preserved as a UNESCO World Heritage site for its many old churches, beautiful public squares, and world-class museums it has long been a favorite with artisans and is a great place to shop local art and crafts, such as ceramics and wood carvings or colorful clothing.
