best places to visit in Saint Barthelemy
Gustavia
Gustavia is the main town and capital of the island of Saint Barthélemy also referred to as St. Barts.
This red-roofed capital is a small harbor town and the best place for shopping in the country. Chic boutiques, duty-free shops, and art galleries line the streets, luring the passengers of the many cruise ships that arrive here. Gourmet St. Barts restaurants, also serve mouth-watering French-inspired cuisine, from crepes to croissants and succulent, fresh seafood. For beautiful views, visit the ruins of Fort Gustave (the most important St. Barts fort during the Swedish period) or head to the top of the 29-meter hill for beautiful views of Shell Beach.
Corossol
Corossol is a quartier (a district of a French city) on the north-western part of Saint Barthélemy in the Caribbean.
As a tiny two-street fishing village, Corossol radiates a classic Caribbean feel and offers an authentic experience of local life. Corossol is sometimes called the “straw village,” due to the women from established island families who create straw hats and crafts from palm fronds. You can purchase some of their creations here to take back home as souvenirs. Corossol Beach is a great place to visit if you are looking for a less touristy place. It is also a port of call for local fishermen, where you can watch them bring in their catch.
