best places to visit in Aruba
Oranjestad
Oranjestad is Aruba’s capital city and is located on the northwest side of the island. The city is located next to the sea, has a harbor and is home to 35,000 people.
One of the most special features of Oranjestad is the Dutch colonial architecture. Furthermore, the pastel-hued buildings with a Spanish and Caribbean twist are scattered along the tidy streets. Overall, the combination of the colours, entertainment sites (shops, restaurants, galleries) and historical monuments (museums and the town hall), create a beautiful and exciting experience.
Boca Prins
Boca Prins is located within the Arikok National Park, near the Fontein Cave and Blue Lagoon. It is an extensive stretch of coast assisted by massive sand dunes.
The sand dunes shift and change shapes according to the wind, making this location very exciting for adventure seekers who love to slide down from the peaks. Swimming at Boca Prins is too dangerous, although it is still a great spot for a picnic, and a perfect place to admire natural beauty.
Diving sites
For diving enthusiasts of all levels, Aruba is an excellent place to experience wreck diving. Sunken vessels range from tugboats to cargo ships, and even plane fuselages.
Antilia is the Caribbean’s largest wreck and one of Aruba’s most popular dives. Snorkelers can also explore the shallow-water sections of this wreck. Other popular wrecks include the 76-meter former concrete freighter Jane Sea and the oil tanker Pedernales. Aruba also offers beautiful coral reef diving sites such as Skalahein Reef, Plonco Reef, and Mas Bango Reef (which is also excellent for snorkeling).
