Stockholm

Stockholm is the capital and largest city in south-eastern Sweden.

Founded in the 13th century, Stockholm is where the annual Nobel Prizes are given out. The Vasa Museum, dedicated to a 17th-century warship that sank on its maiden voyage, is Scandinavia’s most visited museum. Stockholm is easier on your budget than other Nordic cities, offering free admission to 15 museums, including the Swedish History, Medieval Museum, and more. The city is admired as one of Scandinavia’s most beautiful capitals spanning across islands and rocky islets that are all connected by charming old bridges and modern causeways.

Uppsala

Uppsala is the fourth-largest city in Sweden and has been, since the 12th century, the religious center of the country.

Prior to Christianity, Uppsala was known for idols of Norse gods. The Uppsala Cathedral, the seat of the archbishop of Sweden, is the largest cathedral in Scandinavia. Education is important here, too. Uppsala University founded in 1477, is one of the oldest colleges in Scandinavia. The Fyris River runs through the city, with the medieval section located west of the river. Both the cathedral and Uppsala Castle dominate the skyline here. Lastly, 18^th-century botanist Carl Linnaeus lived in Uppsala, so check out the botanical garden next to the castle.

There are 54 countries in Africa – and 9 dependent territories. More than 1.3 billion people live on the African continent. This means about 15% of the world’s total population live in Africa! Even though Nigeria is only a third of the size of Algeria, it is the most populous country in Africa, with more than 219 million people.

NORTH AMERICA

There are 23 countries in North America (see list of the ten biggest countries on the right) and 9 dependencies with a total of more than 590 million people living on the continent. Largest Country: Canada. The country is covering almost half the North American continent’s land area. Canada is slightly bigger than the USA and about as big as China.

OCEANIA

Oceania is in a continental group consisting of 14 countries and includes Pacific islands and Australia. Often Australia is named as a continent, but this means that the many islands and countries except Australia would then be not included. Oceania in fact is mostly ocean and spans a vast area as you can see below.
